Soul Therapy Herbal Library: Lavender

  • Other Names: English Lavender, French Lavender, True Lavender, Lavandula Angustifolia

  • Element: Air

  • Planet: Mercury

  • Zodiac: Virgo

  • Energy: Masculine

  • Overview: Calming, Purification, Healing, Love

Lavender has long been used for its calming scent and flavor. Essential Oil can be diffused to soothe anxiety, promote good sleep, and even applied directly (within a skin-safe carrier oil) to soothe menstrual pain or achy muscles.

In spellwork, lavender is also used for calming tense or emotionally fraught situations, making way for easy communication, purification and cleansing, and promoting self-love.

Fresh lavender is typically blooming in early summer and makes a nice offering on oneโ€™s alter, but dried lavender buds are best for spellwork. Lavender essential oil is also a key ingredient in many intention oils and can be used in candle dressing.

Feel free to incorporate food-grade lavender into tea or lemonade for a calming beverage. Or drop some buds into a spiritual bath for a soothing bedtime ritual.
